Time Strategies

Image
Time management has always been a really crucial aspect of my life ever since a young age, due to my athletic and extracurricular commitments. I enjoy planning out my week and knowing what is coming up on the horizon so that I can focus on the task at hand and put my best foot forward on each activity. Since arriving at college I have been committed to staying on top of my class work so that way I can partake in all the extra social events. Being on the baseball team adds an extra element to my schedule, between traveling, practice, and games it is crucial I handle my time wisely in order to succeed, both on and off the field. I have really enjoyed the start of this course not only for the content, but as well as how things are laid out, including the weekly schedule created by Professor Gibbs. I enjoyed reading through a couple of these articles including The Myth of Too Busy and How to Beat Procrastination. Each of these articles provided great ideas that I believe many students sho

Technology for Myth Folklore

Image
My first impressions of this class and some of the technology we will be using for the semester are great! In the past I have taken courses where blog postings are required, but so far this course is way more organized and planned out. Professor Gibbs has provided multiple resources so students like myself do not get lost in the shuffle and fully understand all the technology resources needed in order to successfully be involved in each assignment. I have never used Blogger before, but have used similar blogging sites such as Cafepress. As far as the bookmark, word count, and spellcheck go I plan on typing all my blogs into Google Documents first so that all grammar and spelling is corrected before posting. Also this is a good place to store all my blogs in case one does not post correctly or gets deleted. Extra Credit Assignments

Image
After reading through the extra credit opportunities for this class I am super excited and motivated to get going. With so much uncertainty going on while we travel through this course I am excited there is an opportunity to finish early. I alway appreciate teachers who give opportunities for their students to do well while providing a flexible schedule and plan to earn an A in their course. There are many extra credit opportunities that I believe I will try and complete each week. First off, Growth Mindset his has been a topic I have always held an interest in. I would love to explore each H.E.A.R.T topic provided. Secondly microfictions, I enjoy writing especially when there is not a word minimum. I believe this option could be a fun alternative to explore while creating content that I truly have an interest in. Famous last words is also a great option that will not only keep me balanced and focused in this course, but others as well. This assignment can allow me to gather my thought

Growth Mindset

Image
Before this assignment I had only heard of the growth mindset a couple of other times. One of them being through baseball. The sport of baseball is a mentaly draining activity, more often than not players find themselves failing more than succeeding. Our coach has this saying, “Do the things you are most uncomfortable doing the most.” This directly correlates with the first video "The Power of Believing That You Can Improve". By doing these uncomfortable activities you can soon improve those skills that in the past limited your playing ability. The second time I had heard of the growth mindset was through one of my leadership classes here at OU. In order to be an effective leader one must continue to grow so that as different situations arise not only can you adjust, but so can the team behind you. I sometimes struggle with a growth mindset in the way of having a hard time doing something a different way than I had previously done my whole life. My life changed very much when

Introduction to Cade Posner... a future firefighter

Image
Hey y'all my name is Cade Posner and I am currently a junior here at The University of Oklahoma. I am majoring in Administrative Leadership and minoring in Health and Exercise Science. I plan on graduating at the end of this year (a year early) due to the amount of classes I have been able to fit into my schedule as well as taking summer classes. After graduation I plan on becoming a firefighter back in my home state of California. I am from a town located about twenty minutes outside of Sacramento in Northern California. Aside from school I love spending my time in the outdoors whether it be through sports or just for fun. I am currently a part of the Baseball team here at OU and have been since the beginning of my sophomore year. Growing up in California I was exposed to many outdoor activities such as snowboarding, paddle boarding, kayaking, and hiking at a young age. These activities have stuck with me and during my time spent at home due to the Coronavirus I was able to get

Storybook Favorites

Image
After looking through many different storybooks I came across three that really caught my eye. The Judge, Urban Legends of Texas, and Life as Animals of the Epics. What I loved so much about these was that each one in itself was completely different, but you could tell the writer immersed themself within the story. This was done through sharing experiences through animals such as in the Life as Animals or through Justice, Peace, and Wisdom in The Judge. As far as introductions go I really enjoyed reading through The Judge’s and Urban Legends of Texas. The Judge’s introduction took you into the story, making you feel as if you were alongside characters as the action began. Whereas in the Urban Legends of Texas the author gives you background on to why they selected this story and how it relates to their own life. I know there it is still a long way off until I complete this project, but as of now I prefer immersing my audience into the story through how The Judge did. As far as formatti

My Favorite Place: San Luis Obispo, California

Photo by David Pascolla https://www.slocal.com/blog/post/epic-sunsets-and-where-to-find-them-in-slo-county/   San Luis Obispo, California  San Luis Obispo is a small town situated on California's central coast. This hidden gem lies between the more popular known cities of Santa Barbra and Los Angeles. This city holds a close place to my heart because it is where my parents meet while attending Cal Poly. Growing up I was able to make countless visits to enjoy the many outdoor, social, and culinary events this beautiful city has to offer.
